Perspective on the New Administration
We have a new administration coming in this week, and a controversial one at that. This morning I sat down with my teachers in spirit to receive guidance on the "bigger picture" of this. Here is their message:
If Hillary Clinton had become president the current levels of discord and corruption would have continued in your country unchallenged. She represents the status quo in politics and had she won people would not have been roused to action. Donald Trump has brought to clear light the current injustices and issues of inequality that need to be healed and he is so controversial that he roused people from their complacency. There is no question that things need to change in your country and in order for those changes to occur, the people need to act. Something, or someone, needed to wake people from their slumber and initiate this action.
This new administration won't so much determine the direction the issues go in as how the people respond to this administration. One branch of government alone cannot control global warming issues, equality issues, and economic issues. Much of that will be determined by the mass majority. It takes far more involvement than one government group, in this case the executive branch, to really make lasting change. If the people are quiet, the government can and will continue to operate in unscrupulous ways that serve the few. If people begin to organize, motivate, and demand change, the government will eventually need to follow suit.
Donald Trump is playing his role brilliantly--he is bringing to the surface all of the unhealed issues and wounds in your society. He made these wounds impossible to ignore. He will continue to do so. That is his job. He is is serving as a catalyst for change. But the change needs to come from you. The people will be responsible for standing up and speaking out to defend love and create more powerful movements towards love. He is creating this opportunity for you. Take it.
To heal and to move forward in a positive direction will require everyone's efforts. It is not productive to sit back and hate Donald Trump. It is not productive to settle back into complacency and 'hope for the best'. This is a call to the people--to each and every one of you--to wake up and actively participate in creating a more peaceful, inclusive future for the country and for the planet. How you do that will vary. Get clear on how you can contribute. There will be those who feel called to serve as activists. Others who will be called to serve one or two particular issues (climate change, civil rights, etc.). Some will be motivated to call their senators and stay on top of the issues and make their voice heard. Some will work on a more energetic level, working to anchor in more compassion, more tolerance, more peace. Now is NOT the time to look at others to see what they are doing and jump on bandwagons. Now is the time to search your heart and see where you feel most compelled to serve. The stronger the resonance is for you the greater the impact you can make.
There's a tremendous opportunity here for real positive change but it will depend on you, the people, and the direction you take your country. Please be advised that there will be, in this process, plenty of opportunities to embrace hate and disdain and to fester in those energies. Stay above that; stay centered in your heart and the goals that matter to you--peace, equality, love.
You are far more powerful than you think you are. What you contribute affects more than you know. Like a spider's web, humanity is an interconnected tapestry. One strand (your strand) connects to and affects the whole. When you stay centered in a space of love, that love will begin to spread to and affect the web as a whole.
An excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech "Where Do We Go from Here"
"Now, in order to answer the question, "Where do we go from here?", we must first honestly recognize where we are now. First we must massively assert our dignity and worth. We must stand up amidst a system that still oppresses us and develop an unassailable and majestic sense of values. And so I say to you, I have decided to stick with love. For I know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind's problems. And I'm going to talk about it everywhere I go. I know it isn't popular to talk about it in some circles today. I'm not talking about emotional bosh when I talk about love, I'm talking about a strong, demanding love. And I have seen too much hate. I have decided to love. If you are seeking the highest good, I think you can find it through love. And the beautiful thing is we are moving against wrong when we do it. He who hates does not know God, but he who has love has the key that unlocks the door to the meaning of ultimate reality."
Thank you Heather. You are so correct and we all needed to wake up and hear these words.
ReplyDeleteTrue yet even if Hillary was elected the current status quo would have taken us to a civil war since Greens Libertarins and Indigenous are ignored
