Orlando-A Spiritual Perspective
I try to see everything from a ‘bigger picture’ perspective and when
tragedies, such as the Orlando shooting, occur I go to the counsel of my
teachers in spirit to understand this bigger picture. What I’ve learned is that
in the plane we live in, anger and violence are used as catalysts for change.
This has always been the case and will continue to be the case as long as there
is expansion that can occur through
those particular catalysts. I’m not saying it doesn’t hurt and I’m not saying
it doesn’t suck. I’m saying that understanding the bigger picture can help us
to align with the love and unity that is trying to emerge through these
tragedies.
When I look at upsetting situations, like the passing of HB2
and the tragedy in Orlando, what's really standing out to me is this phenomenal
expression of solidarity and unity that we haven’t really seen before. The picture I posted here--that’s London showing their love and support for Orlando. The
incredible backlash from the passing of HB2 (North Carolina lost millions of dollars from businesses, entertainers, etc. refusing to be affiliated with NC)--I don’t believe we would have
seen that 10 years ago. Do you remember in 2009 when a Louisiana justice of the
peace refused to marry an interracial couple? Probably not, because while it
did get some resistance and media attention, it didn’t get the kind of nationwide ‘hell no we aren’t taking this shit anymore!’
stand for equality that we are seeing now. Things are changing. And when you
look past the tragedy itself you can see how it is serving as a catalyst for
change. When you look back to the Civil Rights movement there was a lot of
death and destruction that served as catalysts for change. Laws changed. Minds
changed. Hearts changed.
A new consciousness is emerging and that doesn’t mean overnight utopia. It means that the balance is shifting. We
are shifting from fragmented to unified. From fear to love. From intolerance to
compassion. This is the trajectory we are on and yes, at times it will be
painful. This pain, however, is birthing new (and more loving!) paradigms in
the collective consciousness. Paradigms don’t shift easily. It’s messy. It’s
polarized. Those who operate primarily from fear will dig in their heels.
The number of mass shootings we are seeing these days aren't happening because the world is getting crazier, they're happening because a higher vibration of love is emerging on our planet and these incidents (as hard as it is to get our minds around this) are the very catalysts that move us into that greater vibration of love. These are the catalysts that will inevitably change our consciousness and change our laws. Within every one of these tragedies are opportunities to examine the way things currently are and what needs to be changed. But we have to understand, this takes time. The work of the Civil Rights movement and all of the wonderful changes that resulted, took many, many years. Hard years.
It is never my hope to see anyone suffer. It is never my
desire to have more violence in the world. At the same time, I understand the nature of our
reality in this plane. We are not a utopian society. We are not a spiritually
evolved race. Not yet. I understand that the suffering we see is in service to expansion and in that bigger picture,
expansion is good. Those who lose
their lives and those who lose their loved ones in these violent acts are
martyrs for the cause. It is also my understanding that their soul has agreed to play that
role for our spiritual evolution. They
are the spiritual warriors who have put themselves on the front lines for the sake
of the greater good.
And so, as you witness these painful tragedies, I invite you to also witness the solidarity and support that comes on it's heels. I invite you to examine how you can align with the love, support, healing, and change that is emerging. We don't need more hate. We need more love. Hating the terrorist, hating the shooter, hating the bigoted governors and legislatures, this all breeds more of the same. More hate. This is precisely what we are trying to move out of as the collective consciousness is shifting. If all you can do is send love and pray for peace, that is enough. It is more than enough. It is a far better contribution of energy than a contribution to hate and fear.
In Love,
Heather
